Uncontainable FAITH!

Have you noticed that faith does not fit into a perfect little box?  The box, in this case, is a black (or some darkly colored) rectangle on a form that mandates a response from the one completing it.

Since being here in California, I have been blessed to receive support through various organizations that have assisted me with housing primarily.  Of course, many of these organizations offer such support in the form of “programs.”  Now, I’m not here for a “program,” per se.  I am, by the grace of my God, here doing that which He is requiring of me at this point.  Nevertheless, when soliciting and/or simply receiving any degree of assistance from these organizations, a form is usually required, and the questions which are to be answered require very definite responses.

So, here’s where I am going with this:

One question required a response concerning my future plans for housing, employment, etc. My response was simple: Proverbs 3:5-6.

That’s my answer, but—of course—Proverbs 3:5-6 and the faith suggested within the passage were not an option on the form’s choices for “appropriate” responses (LOL).  Another question dealt with homelessness, desiring to gain a sense of one’s status in such terms.  Now, to be crystal clear…since being here (10 months), I have not signed a lease nor maintained my own residence.  Transitional housing has worked just fine for me as I’ve saved up money and connected with brothers and sisters in Christ through the blessings God has given me.  According to the organizations providing assistance, my living status is defined as homeless, which allows them more funding (grants) to support the community and pay their salaries.  With my grants background, I know the game on that one.  Nevertheless, it’s difficult for me to supply a response because of Philippians 4:19.

Additionally, as I talk to many people (e.g. ministers, community members, caseworkers, Believers, agnostics, atheists, democrats, republicans, independents, etc.), I am seeing that my faith is both amusing and amazing to some of them.  What’s amusing and amazing to me regarding faith in God is that it:

  1. defies logic
  2. cannot be placed in a nice little category
  3. gives unimaginable emotional, spiritual, and even physical strength
  4. allows for “Sunshine on a Cloudy Day”
  5. WORKS
  6. is CONTAGIOUS

Faith in our God, who never and will never fail us, has allowed for 10 solid months of housing, food that often doesn’t require money (e.g. grilled/marinated tri-tip, Caesar salad, au gratin potatoes, etc. as typical fare each evening…OKAY???!!!??? LOL), little-to-no transportation costs, free washer and dryer usage, new employment, money toward the forthcoming condo/house agreement, the development of new relationships with other Believers, and—most of all—PROOF that God takes amazing care of His children according to Ephesians 3:20 (NLT):

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us…

Perhaps someone would describe the uncontainable nature of faith using Winston Churchhill’s famous words:

It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key.

However, God’s Word describes faith best.

I petition each of you to continue in FAITH and to make the choices that may require opposition to the norm and to what others desire of you.  In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Julius Caesar, according to William Shakespeare's work, stated: "Cowards die many times before their deaths. The valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders that I yet have heard, it seems to me most strange that men should fear; seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come." The Lord God, Jehovah, spoke to Moses saying: "Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their descendants after them." (Deuteronomy 1:8) He then spoke to Isaiah, the prophet, saying: "For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." (Isaiah 41:13) The Lord has given me His boldness to go into places He desires me to go, proving to me at each and every turn that He is with me and will never forsake me. I am here for the purpose(s) God has set before me and to share my journey with others along the way.
